The debuting of the latest and fourth version of the BMW i4 electric car, the i4 xDrive40, will have an intelligent all-wheel drive system. The engine of this model will have a maximum power of 295 kW/401 hp, and from 0 to 100 km/h. i4 xDrive40 will accelerate in just 5.1 seconds.
On a single charge, the new electric car will be able to cover a distance of 444-548 km, judging by the WLTP standard. It will be possible to charge the electric car with a maximum power of 11 kW through the alternating current (AC) connection, and even 205 kW at the fast charging stations (DC).

New exterior design elements
Coming in July, the updated 4 Series models will feature newly designed LED headlights. The integrated vertical LED strips will serve both as daytime running lights and as turn signals and as a source of side lighting when turning. If you order the Comfort Access package, you will be able to enjoy the exclusive animation of the headlights when unlocking the car. The list of additional equipment will also include adaptive matrix LED high beam lights that help to avoid the glare of oncoming cars.
The optional rear laser lights, like the ones on the sporty BMW M4 CSL models, will also look impressive.
The i4 electric car will also have a new, semi-open front grille design. As standard, the grille will have a matte chrome finish, but a gloss black trim will be optional.
The updated 4 Series models will also get two new body colors – New Cape York metallic and Fire Red. Those looking for even more exclusivity will be able to order from the individual colors offered by BMW, as well as choose the M Sport and M Performance trim packages.
Improvements – also in the cabin
In the interior of the improved models manufactured at the Munich factory, there is a new steering wheel design. Gear shift levers will be installed on it as standard equipment. An M sports leather steering wheel will also be available for an extra charge, with a flattened bottom of the steering wheel and a red stripe at the top of the steering wheel to mark the central position of the steering wheel.
In the center of the cabin is an interactive, large BMW curved screen. In the updated model, using the capabilities of this screen, the designers further minimized the need for physical switches. Therefore, from now on, the ventilation and climate control functions of the 4 Series models, as well as the optional heated seats and heated steering wheel, can now be controlled by touch via the screen, voice commands, and in the case of ventilation, also using the new air vent adjustment controls.
More technology
Updated models will also have more extensive standard equipment. For example, it will feature the BMW Live Cockpit Plus system with cloud-based BMW Maps navigation. It allows electric car drivers to optimally plan charging points on the route, should they be needed. 5G connectivity will be integrated in the updated models as standard.
All 4 Gran Coupe models with internal combustion engines will also have the eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission as standard. BMW offers a total of 5 different versions with internal combustion engines. Among them, the 4 Gran Coupe with a 275 kW/374 hp six-cylinder petrol engine BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupe, two four-cylinder petrol engines, a six-cylinder diesel unit and a four-cylinder diesel engine. In the six-cylinder petrol engines and the four-cylinder diesel unit 48V mild hybrid engine technology is installed.
