The expert named the advantages and disadvantages of used seven-seater cars

Seven-seaters are versatile: large families benefit from the extra space, while small families can use the extra seats as flexible cargo space by folding or removing the third row, which offers significantly more storage space than models like the RAV4.

Some models offer five- and seven-seater options, and some even have eight seats, such as the Toyota Highlander. The ability to install additional seats does not significantly affect the price of these models, and the five- and seven-seat versions often cost about the same.

Many mid-size and full-size crossovers are equipped with a variety of engines, including diesels. There is no one-size-fits-all recommendation for engine selection, as user preferences vary.

Diesel engines are characterized by good low-end torque, dynamic performance and often longer service life. However, the issue of engine longevity usually arises not after 100-150,000 km, but after 250,000 km.

While diesel engines have historically outperformed gasoline engines, current diesel prices, which are often around 10-15% more expensive than gasoline, reduce the potential savings. In addition, diesel engines require higher maintenance costs.

Turbocharged petrol engines, despite their efficiency and power, are complex in design and can be expensive to repair, especially after more than 100,000 km. Components such as direct injection fuel injectors and high pressure fuel pumps increase the risk of costly repairs.

Naturally aspirated gasoline engines, especially in large V6 configurations, offer a balanced combination of reliability and serviceability. However, their fuel consumption of 18 to 25 l/100 km may not appeal to all consumers.

Seven-seat crossovers come in a variety of price categories, with top-of-the-line models costing more due to factors such as brand prestige and maintenance costs. Budget options include models with engines of less than 150 horsepower, such as the Peugeot 5008 and Škoda Kodiaq.

Premium models over ten years old can be offered at a reasonable price, but often have higher running costs and more expensive spare parts. Finding a reliable premium model can be difficult: some models, such as the BMW X7 and Audi Q7, develop complex engine problems after 120-150,000 km. Lexus RX models with reliable engines are significantly more expensive.
