This is the second trip by the CEO of US electric car maker Tesla to the world’s largest electric vehicle market in less than a year.

China’s state broadcaster CCTV reported that during the talks, Prime Minister E. Musk promised that Beijing would take more measures to help foreign companies.

“China’s very large market will always be open to foreign-funded enterprises,” Li Qiang said.

“China will keep its word and continue to work to expand market access and strengthen service guarantees,” he added.

According to the premier, Beijing intends to create better business conditions for foreign companies to ensure their consistent investment in China.

E. Musk has many business interests in China and last visited the country in June last year.

However, when asked by the AFP news agency to comment on Mr. Musk’s visit, Tesla did not provide any response.

CCTV quoted the tech tycoon as praising the Chinese team working on Tesla’s massive Gigafactory in Shanghai during a meeting with the prime minister.

“Tesla is willing to take the next step in deepening cooperation with China to achieve more mutually beneficial results,” Musk said.

Earlier on Sunday, CCTV said Musk met with Ren Hongbin, head of the China International Trade Promotion Council, to “discuss further cooperation and other issues.”

Mr. Musk is viewed as controversial in the West, but in China, Tesla’s electric vehicles have become an extremely important part of the lives of middle-class urbanites.
