The new Messenger function is already available in Lithuania: users have been complaining for years

--

Developers of other applications may not like this – in the past, Messenger users used additional tools to send high-quality photos, which will now be unnecessary, says Justina Antropik, head of content for digital channels at Tele2.

Already available in Lithuania

If you’re a frequent Messenger user, you may have already noticed the platform’s latest feature, the ability to send photos in HD. Until now, Messenger recipients received lower-quality photos – they turned out to be a little blurry, less sharp.

“With the latest update package for Messenger, Meta seems to have answered years of user requests. From now on, you can send much clearer and sharper photos when texting. To do this, select the option to send photos in the chat, click on the frame you want to send, turn on the “HD” option in the right corner and send. For now, the option only works in private and not in group messages,” says Mr. Antropik.

According to the expert, this innovation can reduce the use of some other platforms and tools. Until now, in order not to lose the quality of the photos being sent, users had to use additional programs, such as WeTransfer, Dropbox, or send photos via e-mail. by post

“This was a major shortcoming of Messenger, which prevented users from generally enjoying all the capabilities of the latest devices. Even after taking high-quality photos with a new smartphone with the best camera, the quality deteriorated when sent via Messenger. Now, it seems that this problem is gone, but users are still waiting for the same update when sending videos,” notes Mr. Antropik.

Other innovations were also proposed

With the photo quality update that came out in April, Messenger brought other new features to users. From now on, it will be possible to create photo albums from the photos in the messaging app.

In order to create an album, you need to press “View media, files and links” and “Create albums for this chat” in the settings of the selected chat. Then you can select all the photos you want to add to the album, name it. All chat participants will be able to view, add, delete and download photos and videos from the album.

Messenger also offered an easier way to start new conversations. In order to find a new interlocutor in the app, you will no longer need to enter his name and surname in the search, you will only need to scan the “QR” code on his phone. To do this, tap on the QR code icon at the top left in settings. Among the latest updates is an increased limit of sent files. From now on, the app will allow you to send files of up to 100 MB.

While it has offered some useful new features, Messenger is also currently facing some glitches. The app has recently come under fire from users due to the end-to-end encryption introduced across the entire platform. The latter caused problems where some messages disappeared, making it difficult to find some correspondences, which disrupted the normal user experience for a while.
