According to various calculations, Russia has lost about 10-14% of its fuel production capacity due to Ukrainian drone attacks. It is also important that those capacities are located in the European part of Russia, where there is a larger population. It has already been announced that Russia is starting to limit the export of fuel, intends to rely more on the Belarusian oil industry in order not to run out of fuel.
At one point, the US warned Ukraine not to touch the Russian oil industry. The US feared that this could have huge consequences for the global oil market. But Ukraine continues and the oil market survived. Ukraine simply wants the Russians to run out of fuel, both for the population and the war machine.
In addition, by attacking objects on Russian territory, Ukraine forces Russia to redistribute its air defense capabilities. Let as many air defense systems as possible remain in Russia and less in the occupied parts of Ukraine.
Now Newsweek reports that drone attacks on the Russian oil industry had somewhat different consequences. It turns out that the Russians are actually afraid of them, because it does not seem that the authorities can protect them from drones. So, workers leave en masse.
After the attack in March, several dozen workers left the Kuibyshevsk oil refinery. The factory announces that it is looking for 50 workers. Other previously attacked oil refineries are also looking for workers (some have as many as 120 workers). No one died – people just leave to avoid being attacked. In time, this could affect public sentiment and the operation of those factories.
