The incident in Daukanta a. It happened during lunch in the center of Vilnius. Police officers observing the rally near the Presidency saw a BMW car, the driver of which, ignoring the traffic prohibiting sign, turned onto the street in front of the traffic.

The road to the car was immediately blocked by a police car and the offender was stopped. It turned out that a 22-year-old guy was driving the BMW X6. He was sober.

Officers asked the boy to turn the car around and leave, but the driver started arguing with the officers and said he didn’t understand why he was being pulled over, according to police.

The dispute between the officers and the BMW driver ended with the guy being issued a report for violating the traffic rules.

After the protocol was written, the driver was released, but he did not want to take his car that was obstructing the traffic for some time. The man got into his car and drove away only after officers began to consider calling a tow truck and towing away the BMW.

As reported by the Elta agency, at noon on Tuesday, a dozen activists of the so-called “Rail Baltica” public interest defense group gathered on a picket at Daukanta Square near the Presidential Palace, thus expressing criticism of the implementation plans of this railway transport project in the Panevėžys district.

Those gathered were carrying placards and had prepared a stand where people could familiarize themselves with information about the project rates, planned stations and railways.
