LKL Season Awards: The MVP Dilemma, Biggest Disappointment and No Winner Category

Thursday’s match between Mažeikiai “M Basket-Delamode” and Kėdainiai “Nevėžio-Optibet” teams closed the 31st “Betsafe-LKL” regular season.

The playoffs will start next Sunday, in which Kaunas “Žalgiris” will try to defend the title won last season.

15 minutes the portal organized the Betsafe-LKL alternative awards and selected the best and most disappointing players and teams.

Best Young (U21) Player: No winner

The huge drain of talent across the Atlantic to the NCAA championships has turned the nomination of the best young player of the Betsafe-LKL season into a tragicomedy.

Among the 22-year-old players who still don’t have a championship, the “brightest” ones were Liutauras Lelevičius of Panevėžys “7bet-Lietkabelios” and Hungarian Zsombor Maronka of Klaipėda “Neptūnos”.

Do any of these players deserve the “best young” basketball player award? Not really.

For comparison, Mantas Rubštavičius, Motiejus Krivas and Paulius Murauskas showed flashes of talent in the “Betsafe-LKL” championship last season.
