“In the final, I was really surprised by the ability of other athletes to recover quickly between events. In addition, I was impressed by their tactical movement forward – I still have a lot of work to do to be able to recover so quickly between matches”, L. Kirilovas smiled.

According to him, both physical and psychological endurance are important in functional sports competitions. “During the first two races, you can still understand where you are, and then… You just disconnect and try to squeeze out the best you can to achieve the best results,” said the athlete. – True, I was really surprised by the two-hour format. I believe that this is attractive to the spectators – in a relatively short period of time they see different events, athletes’ endurance, psychological and physical preparation. Personally, I was not able to fully recover and show all of myself during the short breaks. However, the conditions were the same for all athletes, so there is definitely room for improvement. The European Championship was one of the biggest challenges in my sports career. I would really like to come back and prove that I can do more.”

The athlete said that after the end of the European Championships, he was pleased by the messages sent by all supporters.

“It’s great to know that I have so many supportive people around me. I am very grateful to all of them for their faith and support, and I feel especially grateful for the support of my other half, Ernesta. Support is very important to me. He helps me move forward. I received various messages, all of them are sweet and important to me,” said the athlete.
