If you are thinking about getting a dog, you can choose from over 200 different dog breeds.

Some need a menacing house protector, some need a fun kid friend, and some just need a living soul by their side that doesn’t require too much attention.

If you’re looking for a dog that won’t ask you to go for a walk all the time, but will just lay next to you on the floor while you work on the computer, or maybe even just in your bed while you watch TV, here are the 10 laziest dog breeds according to the American Kennel Club.

The list is quoted by the Scotsman:

English bulldog. Bulldogs are not built for sports – they get hot and tired quickly. They prefer to crawl into your bed to get some shut-eye.

Cocker spaniel. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels often only need a few laps around the room before they can quickly take a nap on the couch and recover.

Chow Chow According to the American Kennel Club, the Chow Chow Chow Chow is only active for 43 minutes a day if not specifically disturbed.

French Bulldog. It is perfect for resting at home, but it will not thank you for a long walk. Basset Hound. Basset Hounds are as lazy as they look – a large body and short legs are not an ideal combination for running around the park or catching a ball.

Greyhounds. They may be known for their speed as they belong to the greyhound group. However, they are actually a lazy breed. They are happy curled up in their favorite spot on the sofa. Little Italian Greyhounds are also happy doing absolutely nothing.

Newfoundland. Probably the best dogs, but Newfoundlands exercise only when absolutely necessary – it takes a lot of energy to move such a large body.

Miniature Pinscher. Most small dogs are quite active, but Pinschers are a small breed that can do most of their exercise in the comfort of their own home before laying down to sleep.

Pug. Compared to the other dogs on this list, the pug is actually quite lively. However, due to their size, they will be exhausted by the time they reach the front door.

German shepherd. Dogs are as lazy as they are huge. A quick walk around the block and they’ll be ready to lounge on the carpet for hours.
