In the first set, it seemed that all the action would lead to a “tiebreaker”, but with the result 6:5, the Lithuanian won the opponent’s serve series and snatched the victory in the set (7:5).

The second set was very similar to the first, only this one was in favor of the 25-year-old Frenchman. V. Gaubas trailed 4:5 and completed his series of serves, but in the persistent game he had to admit his opponent’s advantage (4:6).

At the beginning of the decisive set, the 19-year-old Lithuanian dictated his conditions and in the first five “games” he won the opponent’s serving series twice (4:1).

V. Gaubas once lost his serves, but he did not waste all the advantage he had created and won (6:4).

This was already the fourth victory of the Lithuanian tennis player in this tournament. Before the main stage, he had to pass the qualification in which he achieved two victories.

For this victory, the tennis player received 16 ATP ranking points and a little more than 2 thousand. euros.

V. Gaubo will face the winner of Italian Franco Agamenone (ATP-220) and American Nicolas Alboran (ATP-138) in the quarterfinals.

The prize fund of the tournament consists of almost 75 thousand. euros.
