The campaign to raise money for radars will end on Friday. Residents can still donate by calling 1482 or by transferring to a special Blue/Yellow account.

In commemoration of the anniversary of the war in Ukraine, a rally, procession, discussions and concerts will be held in Lithuania

In commemoration of the anniversary of Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine, a rally dedicated to supporting the country, solidarity concerts, discussions and an excursion will be held in Lithuania on Friday.

On Friday, a press conference will be held in the Seimas to discuss the war years and future perspectives, the opening of the exhibition and the screening of the film will take place.

The 45th rally dedicated to supporting Ukraine will be organized in Vilnius, in which ambassadors of NATO countries and Ukraine, heads of state and public figures will participate. A tank destroyed by Ukrainian forces will be exhibited in the Cathedral Square.

In the afternoon, a procession with 50-meter-long Ukrainian and Lithuanian flags will be held in the capital, and after the procession, a concert dedicated to supporting Ukraine will take place near the parliament. Another concert is planned at the club “Opera Social House”.

A film performance will be held at the Vilnius Book Fair to commemorate the anniversary of the war, where you will be able to hear the testimonies of Ukrainians fleeing the war. There will also be presentations of books by Oleksiy Arestovych, the former adviser to the administration of the President of Ukraine, and other Ukrainian authors, poetry readings, and discussions about lessons learned during the war.

The discussion organized by Vilnius University will discuss Lithuania’s aid to Ukraine, the current situation and Ukraine’s opportunities to change the course of the war. The discussion will be followed by a brass band concert.

There will be an excursion in Kaunas to get acquainted with the contribution of Ukrainians to the history of Kaunas. Vytautas the Great University (VDU) will host an international forum dedicated to discussions about the Ukrainian peace formula, the challenges of the energy sector, and the establishment of a special tribunal for Russia.

A concert by the Čiurlionis Quartet and soloist Dovilė Kazonaitė will be held in Šiauliai, and in the evening Ukrainians living in this city will gather for a rally.

At the Klaipėda Festival of Lights, the interior of the Church of Mary Queen of Peace will be lit up with the colors of the Ukrainian flag, and masses will be offered here later.

Support actions for Ukraine will also take place in Panevėžys, Alytus, Ukmerge and other Lithuanian cities.

The largest Lithuanian retail chains at exactly 6:30 p.m. will invite its employees and customers to unite with all the people who took to the streets for Ukraine.

Representatives of the Lithuanian Orthodox Church subordinate to the Moscow Patriarchate are calling for an intensive service in the morning to ask for an end to the war in Ukraine and peace.

Friday marks the anniversary of Russia’s war in Ukraine. The large-scale attack that began on February 24 last year brought enormous losses to the country: tens of thousands of people were killed, and the country’s infrastructure was destroyed.
