At the age of 31, the author of the book, Raminta Bekešiūtė, left her fast-growing career and favorite activities behind to pay tribute to the Motherland. For nine months, she performed continuous mandatory initial military service in the engineering battalion of Colonel Juozas Vitkaus as a volunteer. He put his joys and sorrows, experiences and fears in a diary.

In the book “Nine months in the army. Unadorned” everything is presented without embellishments and filters. About rubbed legs and sleepless nights, about self-worth and the feelings that come with holding a gun in your hands. About messy beds and canteen food. About conscripts, what they are like now and what they used to come to the service before. How young people have changed and how much each of us is a patriot at heart. About all this and more – in this book “Nine months in the army. No embellishments.”

Meeting with the author and presentation of the book at the Vytautas Great War Museum (64 K. Donelaičio str., Kaunas) – April 30, 5:30 p.m.
