The company “Enefit” decided to adapt 100% of the discount for one fee – MadeinVilnius.lt

The company “Enefit” decided to adapt 100% of the electricity supply to residents with long-term electricity supply plans. a discount on the reservation fee provided for in these contracts. On Wednesday, Enefit also informed the State Energy Regulatory Office (VERT) about this decision.

“Constantly changing and self-contradictory and possibly politically motivated decisions of the Ministry of Energy caused confusion among all market participants, but most of all – consumers. Therefore, we chose to act responsibly: we listened to private customers who, at the height of the energy crisis, chose to fix prices for a long period of time, and we decided to give them the opportunity to choose solutions that reflect today’s situation”, says Vytenis Koryzna, head of Enefit.

This decision applies only to Enefit’s private customers who concluded long-term contracts of 6 and 7 years until 2023. June 1

According to V. Koryzna, part of the electricity was immediately reserved for customers who signed long-term contracts, therefore, when they refused these obligations, the company suffered direct losses, which will be requested to be compensated, but not from the consumers’ pockets.

“Contrary to what the politicians or representatives of the regulator claim, we never applied contract termination fees to household consumers, we only asked for compensation for a symbolic part of the losses incurred. Until January of this year, this decision was supported by the regulator. At the same time, these long-term contracts in times of peak prices and market turbulence – when the same politicians urged consumers to fix the price with long-term contracts and when one of the big electricity suppliers collapsed – allowed consumers to offer the best prices. It is disappointing to say the least that after three years the authorities have turned the situation upside down. This has dealt a major blow to consumer confidence in independent suppliers, but we aim to restore it by removing the consumer from the conflict with the decision makers and giving them the freedom to choose. In the meantime, we will continue to raise questions regarding the compensation of losses to the responsible persons,” he explains.

The development of new wind parks in Lithuania was also based on these commitments. Despite the decision to apply a discount to the reservation fee, the company manager says that he will continue to develop these projects at Enefit.

The company will also provide compensation to household customers who have already paid this fee, upon receipt of their requests. Business customers will continue to be subject to contractual terms and conditions, including termination fees.

“We are confident that business customers have been able to assess the risks they are taking, so the terms of the contract will continue to remain unchanged for them. We hope that this will be confirmed by the ongoing legal proceedings,” says V. Koryzna.

We remind you that Enefit has been available to all household users since April of last year, and from 2023 June and small and very small companies, no longer charge any fees when terminating or changing electricity supply contracts. Such restrictions have never been applied to short-term household consumer contracts (from 3 to 24 months). The only exception is the reservation fee provided for in long-term – 6 and 7-year – fixed-price contracts, the conditions of which were confirmed by VERT in writing until January of this year as meeting the requirements of the legal framework. Nevertheless, in January of this year VERT appealed to independent suppliers with a demand to return from 2021. July 15 received from household consumers and small and very small companies non-payments and other fees, applied when changing the electricity supplier or terminating the contract and waived all currently asserted claims regarding non-payments and payment of any fees to the aforementioned groups of consumers.
