“I am from Kaunas, I was born here, I speak to you here in the national language. Why are you pushing me? What did I say? Tell me. What did I do? I beat you? Did I place the bomb near the Presidency or the Landsberg representative office? No, I’m not involved in this, I have a cultural life, I’m a historian, a philosopher, I have something to do, and you do your politics, but don’t push me into this matter and don’t try to make an idiot out of me,” the Russian citizen told reporters at the Vilnius District Court on Wednesday V. Ivanov. ELTA reminds that the former leader of the pro-Soviet organization “Jedinstvo” V. Ivanovas missed the deadline to appeal the Migration Department’s decision to deport him from Lithuania, and after missing it, he did not ask to renew the appeal deadline, so the issue of his deportation will not be raised in court. The person will be deported from Lithuania.

The Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania announced last week that the 77-year-old V. Ivanovas did not indicate important reasons that prevented him from exercising the right to judicial defense within the deadlines set by the law, thus forming the basis for renewing this deadline. On January 24, the Kaunas Chamber of the Regional Administrative Court received a complaint from the applicant, in which he requested to annul the decision of the Migration Department on November 7 last year, which revoked his permanent residence permit in Lithuania.

The Migration Department made the decision to deport V. Ivanova from Lithuania last year, after analyzing publicly available information and receiving additional information from the responsible institutions of the country – State Security Department, Police Department, State Border Guard Service.

V. Ivanovas is now being tried in a criminal case together with Erika Švenčioniene and Kazimierus Juraičius, who participated in the activities of the liquidated “International Good Neighborhood Forum”. In this case, the former leader of the pro-Soviet organization “Jedinstvo” V. Ivanovas is accused of the 1991 denial of the fact of the aggression of the USSR against Lithuania. According to law enforcement, he was charged based on his thoughts about the events of January 13th in a broadcast.

The trial of this criminal case is already halfway through – the court published the criminal case materials on Wednesday. The outcome of this case will depend on when the Russian citizen will be deported from Lithuania – in this criminal case, the accused V. Ivanov has been given a pretrial order – a written promise not to leave, which means that the accused must be in Lithuania for the entire duration of the case. The Russian citizen will be deported when the verdict in the criminal case becomes final. It is not known when this will happen, because the case is still being examined by the court of first instance, the parties can still appeal its verdict to the Lithuanian Court of Appeal and only after the verdict of this court will the verdict come into force. At that time, V. Ivanovas believes that the court’s decision regarding his deportation from Lithuania is not fully valid and he and his lawyer will still consider what to do next.

“I will definitely have to apply again, I don’t like such monas, such receivers (methods, means – ELTA), in Russian.” I am too educated a person not to see the scam that the Migration Board and the Department are doing. You want to point something at me, I want to know, I’m human, I have the right to know what I did wrong. Punish me and tell me, then I will agree or not,” the Russian citizen complained.

V. Ivanovas said that the postal worker who came to him on January 13 handed him the documents of the Migration Department. He believes that the deadline for appealing the decision can only be counted from this date.

“First of all, they don’t want to leave, they want to deport – we have to keep the wording correct. The second thing is that I do not agree with the motivation with which I was answered in the negative, first of all, we asked in the complaint to restore the exact time when I received this notification that I was released from the residence permit,” V. told reporters at the Vilnius District Court on Wednesday. Ivanov.

“I have to live here, I am a pure Kaunian,” he said.

V. Ivanov believes that not a single fact has been established confirming that he poses a threat to national security.

“I am not going to run away from Lithuania, from my Homeland, from my Kaunas, where my parents lie in their graves, I was born here. Why do I have to leave? My family is here, all my relatives are here,” the Russian citizen testified.
