So far, the scope and duration of the repairs are not known, for this it is necessary to carry out a more detailed assessment of the structures. In order to ensure the safety of the work, from tomorrow (April 3, Wednesday) traffic on the overpass will be temporarily prohibited, traffic restrictions will be in effect until the repair work is completed. Repairs are expected to be completed in about two weeks. Information about the duration of traffic restrictions will be revised, we will inform about it separately.
Traffic will be diverted
During traffic restrictions from Savanorių Ave. vehicles arriving on Geležinių Vilkas street of the ring and wishing to go to A. Goštautos street will be diverted by a detour. It is recommended to turn towards Lukiškių st. and continue the journey along Gynėi Street. Traffic will not be restricted on the Iron Wolf Street.
During the repair of the overpass on A. Goštauto Street, the route of bus route 56 towards Fabijoniškii will be temporarily changed. In this direction, the buses will drive along Geležinio Vilka Street to Lukiškių St., where they will turn to Gynėjų St. and from A. Goštauto Street, the route will be continued by the usual route. When traveling on the changed section of the route, buses heading towards Fabijoniškii will stop at the stops “Verslo trikampis” and “Nepikamsoloses aištė”, but they will additionally stop at the stop “Gediminos prospektas”. Route 56 buses will run in the direction of Vilkpėdes without changes.
Every spring, specialists assess the condition of all bridges, viaducts and overpasses maintained by Vilnius municipality. If the need for repair is determined, it is immediately organized, thus preventing possible major defects in the future. This allows for smooth and safe traffic in the city.
