“Highway patrols: everything is on record”. Easter’s brave drivers ended in a bloody incident: “I cried leaning on the steering wheel”

It was spring. similar time as now. I went from Vilnius to Anykščius to visit my parents to celebrate Easter. I had recently graduated and received a car as a gift from my parents. Driving skills are not yet polished. Full of courage. Distracted, not yet knowing the taste of the real accident. Therefore, I am almost sure that this will not happen to me.

But fate decided to play a joke on me. And just a few kilometers before home, just before entering the city, a deer suddenly appeared in front of my nose! The frightened animal tried to jump over the “hood” of the car. She might have succeeded, but her long legs tripped and she fell on the other side of the car.

I couldn’t even scream out of surprise. When I looked through the mirror, the doe was gone. I stopped. I got out. There was blood on the car. The tracks of the wounded beast led to a forest along the road. Fortunately, my speed was low and I was able to control the car. But if I had been driving even slightly faster than the speed limit, everything would have ended in more than bloodshed.

The doe probably did not survive. But I wouldn’t have helped her even if I had chased her through the woods.

I cried leaning on the steering wheel. To this day, I cannot erase him either from my mind or from my heart. But this bloody lesson was fatal. After the car accident, all my “agility” behind the wheel evaporated. I realized that by driving carelessly, I can not only injure myself, but also maim someone else or even take someone’s life. It was a really painful and scary lesson that I hope never happens again.

Drive safely, take your time! So that you don’t have to regret it for the rest of your life.
