The total investment in the new logistics center will reach 14 million. euros and will meet the strategic goal of the company to grow in the region and become one of the market leaders.

“The data we have shows that the habits of consumers to shop online continue to grow in all Baltic countries. Accordingly, the demand for parcel terminals is also growing. The new logistics center in Estonia will triple the capacity of our sorted parcels in the mentioned country and ensure quality services throughout the year,” says Gediminas Mickus, manager of the Smartpost Itella company.

According to him, the new logistics center will help further automate the delivery processes and increase the company’s capacity. The future center is created using the so-called smart house concept, which means that the sensor system installed in the building allows remote control and continuous monitoring of all processes.

The new logistics center will be opened early next year. Its area will be about 7,500 square meters, and in the future it can be expanded by another 2,400 square meters.

The future logistics center will also have charging stations for e-cars. It will be possible to load up to 82 cars at the same time. And this will bring the company even closer to zero carbon dioxide emissions. During the design of the new building, great attention was also paid to ensuring work safety.

At the beginning of this year, the company “Smartpost Itella” already announced its expansion. Then it was reported about 2 million. EUR investment in the expansion of the network of post machines, during which in 2024 the company will install 63 new terminals in Latvia, 25 in Lithuania and 12 in Estonia. In total, the network in the Baltic countries will grow by 10 percent. Existing terminals will also be expanded. 40 terminals will be expanded in Latvia, 15 in Lithuania and 5 in Estonia.

“We are expanding the network of post machines as we see the growing need for their use and in order to ensure the greatest possible convenience for our customers. Last year, we saw a significant increase in demand for Smartpost post machines. The newly installed postal machines will allow residents to pick up their parcels and send them in more convenient places, closer to home,” G. Mickus said at the time.
