Xiaomi’s first electric car goes on sale: the company’s new masterpiece will cost much less than expected

At the end of last year, there was a press conference organized by Xiaomi that focused on automotive technology. Although the company’s managers initially announced that they were not going to present the long-awaited first electric car, such talk was just a smokescreen.

At the end of December 2023, Xiaomi officially presented its first electric car, and recently a press conference was held during which the start of sales was announced. The Chinese tech company is launching three Xiaomi SU7 models.

The base variant will have rear-wheel drive and use a Xiaomi-developed V6 engine with 220kW of power and 400Nm of torque. It will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.28 seconds. Xiaomi SU7 will use 73.6 kWh batteries, which will allow you to cover approximately 668 kilometers.

It is announced that in just 15 minutes it will be possible to charge enough batteries to cover 310 kilometers. True, all calculations are made according to the rather optimistic CLTC standard. In reality, the numbers can be up to 20 percent. smaller ones. This variant of Xiaomi’s first electric car will cost from 28 thousand. euros.

Xiaomi is also going to offer a variant of the Xiaomi SU7 Pro, which will have a 94.3 kWh battery and a range of around 830 kilometers. This electric car is equipped with the same engine as the base model. Those who want to buy it will have to pay approximately 31.7 thousand. euros.

The Xiaomi SU7 Max electric car will be equipped with four-wheel drive and two motors, with a total power of 495 kW and a torque of 838 Nm. As we already mentioned, this variant will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds, and the maximum speed of the car will reach 265 km/h. According to the manufacturer, it will accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h in about 10.67 seconds.

The most powerful version will use 101 kWh batteries with CATL cells and 875 V charging voltage. With a full charge, this electric car should cover up to 810 kilometers, and a 15-minute charge will allow you to travel up to 510 kilometers. The price of Xiaomi SU7 Max will be around 38.7 thousand. euros.

In all modifications, the advanced Xiaomi Pilot Pro self-driving system, which includes an Nvidia Orin chip, a LiDAR system and 11 cameras, will be available as standard. True, this option will be available only a little later. Consumer testing will begin in April, and it should be available in several Chinese cities in May.

There are many additional options in the car interior. Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with a refrigerator, Nappa leather or Oeko-Tex seats, 25 speakers with Dolby Atmos support, two screens for passengers sitting in the back.

True, Xiaomi’s first electric car will probably be available only in the Chinese market. Information about its appearance in Europe or other regions is not provided.
