There is no talk of mass demolition, the decision will not be taken by the ministry

The Ministry of the Environment previously announced that it had used external experts to prepare a feasibility study on whether apartment buildings in poor condition should be renovated or demolished.

“She will create a model of how to present a couple of floors where it is rational and there are market laws in big cities, how to renovate where it is profitable and how to offer other options when it is not worthwhile to renovate, and the apartment building is already worn out and renovation is simply more expensive than the real estate itself property,” said the minister.

He admitted that the study may provide that certain apartment buildings will need to be demolished.

“There are certainly such in Lithuania, but it is not a massive thing. These are old, homely apartment buildings that have lived for maybe 100 years and are not properly maintained. Property owners are looking for a model for tearing down and rebuilding here. There are also quite a few such requests”, – Delphi S. Gentvilas stated in the TV show “Pinigianii lakalaai”.
