The Lithuanian National Drama Theater will be supplied with electricity by a solar power plant | Culture

--

After the reconstruction, all three theaters of the Lithuanian National Drama Theater are already in operation, so a lot of electricity is consumed. When the cost of electricity increased significantly a few years ago, the theater was looking for ways to reduce these costs and turned to APVA for advice. According to the calculations, it was found that after purchasing a part of the solar power plant with a capacity of ~ 500 kW, the costs would decrease by about 44 percent.

LNDT purchased a solar energy installation with service geographically distant from the place of electricity consumption from Evecon UAB. The solar power plant is located in the Biržai district and is already connected to ESO’s distribution networks, its total generated power is 12,867.4 kW. Part of this power plant was purchased by the Lithuanian National Drama Theater as part of the Climate Change Program funded project “Purchase of Remote Solar Power Plant up to 550 kW for LNDT”.

“Lithuanian National Drama Theater implemented several energy-saving solutions during the reconstruction of the building. The purchase of a solar power plant is another step in creating a sustainable theater. Clean, ecologically produced electricity helps not only reduce electricity costs, but also greenhouse gas emissions,” says LNDT CEO Martynas Budraitis.

LNDT is currently affiliated with the Sustainable Theater Alliance for Green Environmental Change – STAGES. 14 foreign partners carry out the same activities provided for in the project: carry out self-analysis of their activities, create a performance using sustainable methods, organize art and science residencies, carry out educational activities. In April, LNDT’s first organized forum “Sustainable theatre?” presented LNDT’s self-analysis conducted by the company “Reformula” and other principles of sustainable theater operation to the participants.

The purchase price of the part of the solar power plant purchased by the Lithuanian National Drama Theater is EUR 684,981. APVA finances EUR 436,700, LNDT – EUR 248,281.
