In the team sculpture category, the duo of Lithuanian artists Tautvilas Povilionis and Marijus Petrauskas, who created the ice sculpture “Selfis”, won second place.
Marius Skudžinskas and Mindaugas Tendziagolskis also won the jury’s prize in the same category.
The jury liked the ice sculpture “Books of Time” created by M. Skudžinskas together with Arsentijus Samoilov (Ukraine) and the ice sculpture “For clean air and water in our land” created by M. Tendziagolskis together with Ainars Zingniks (Latvia).
This year, 32 professional sculptors from 11 countries – Ukraine, Indonesia, Argentina, Latvia, Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Czech Republic, Mongolia, United Kingdom (UK) and Spain created ice sculptures for the Jelgava Festival. They tried to show their unique approach to the treasures of the world through an ice sculpture.
For the festival, 45 competitive sculptures were created, but in total, more than 60 ice objects are exhibited here. You can take photos near some of the ice sculptures.
There will be no shortage of various events at the Jelgava Ice Sculpture Festival, which will take place throughout the weekend. Latvian pop stars will perform here. The performance will also be organized by Lithuanian musicians. The music project “AC/DC Project” will be presented, the band “Jonis” will perform.
There is an ice bar and an ice sauna on the territory of the festival. Ice rides and games for children.
This festival also attracts the attention of Lithuanians. The number of spectators coming from Lithuania to the Jelgava Ice Sculpture Festival is growing every year – the organizers of the festival are able to organize an impressive festival of ice sculptures, music and lights.
