Four-year-old Teddy Hobbs counts in French even though he is British. According to his mother, he learned by himself. And that’s not all. A young child can count to one hundred in seven languages, even Chinese Mandarin.

“He used to count to 100 in English before he was even two. I thought it was his quirk, which every kid has,” says Teddy’s mother, Beth.

But when Teddy learned to read on his own, it became clear that he was a little genius. At the age of just three, he became a member of Mensa, an international organization that unites the world’s greatest minds. Its members are people with an extremely high IQ, those of whom there are only about 2 percent in the world. Teddy is one of them. And that Teddy is a special child, his parents learned from the doctors. It was hard to believe at first.

“After all, it happens that some children develop a little faster than others. We just thought there’s nothing out of the ordinary here, that’s the end of it,” says Beth.

Teddy’s parents say he struggles to understand why his peers can’t read or do math and don’t understand what he understands. However, they are trying very hard to prevent extraordinary talents from taking away from his childhood. True, he is glad that he does not have to read books. Here he reads “Harry Potter” to himself before going to bed.
