Pope Francis on June 10 will participate in St. Peter’s Square at an event organized by the Vatican Foundation “Fratelli tutti”. Nobel Peace Prize laureates and young people from all over the world will participate in the initiative.
Pope Francis will participate in the Global Meeting of Human Fraternity called “Not Alone” ( Not Alone), which will take place on June 10 at 4 p.m. St. Peter’s Square and at the same time in eight other squares around the world. The event, which will be attended by 30 Nobel laureates and thousands of young people from around the world, is organized by the Vatican Foundation Fratelli tutti, in collaboration with St. Peter’s Basilica, Service integrally human progress dicastery and the Department of Communication. According to the organizers, this initiative, inspired by the encyclical Brothers and sisters, will bring together people from all over the world to jointly strengthen a culture of fraternity and peace and promote personal commitment in choosing and implementing dialogue, forgiveness, overcoming loneliness and exclusion that deny human dignity. It is expected that St. Peter’s Square will gather families, various ecclesiastical and lay communities, all those who are forced to live on the margins of society – the poor, homeless, migrants, victims of violence and human trafficking. At the end of the event, those gathered will be invited to hold hands and extend the embrace, which is also expressed by St. The open colonnades surrounding St. Peter’s Square.
The day, conceived as a fraternity-building process and experience, will consist of two stages: in the morning, groups will gather to share ways of fellowship, which will be discussed in the afternoon. Nobel laureates joining the initiative will meet with representatives of science, culture, law and international organizations to jointly draft a document calling for a commitment to human brotherhood. The document will be presented to Pope Francis St. Peter’s Square, and at the same time symbolically for all the people of the world who feel called to accept the invitation to create social friendship and a paradigm of brotherhood, justice and peace. The meeting will be televised live by Vatican media.
