The municipality of Klaipda is starting a walkway near Dan’s entrances and plans to prepare a pontoon pier for the regular water bus.
It is planned that electric buses-catamarans will start plying on the Dan River in May.
According to the agreement with the municipality of Klaipėda, the company Kesrama will have to complete the construction work of the psijtak and aikteli within three months until the end of May. The contract price is EUR 114,000. The works will be financed from the municipal budget.
According to the approved technical work project, the contractor will have to prepare five footpaths in different parts of the coast of the Dans river, in the section from Liep to Klaipda street.
Boarding/disembarking areas with protective dog fences and retaining walls will also be prepared.
It is planned that the water buses will stop at several stops: in the center at the Liep street bridge, near the Dangs vingis and Olynai residential blocks, at the Botanic garden and at the Tauralaukis bridge. Another water bus stop will appear in the city center near the sailing ship Meridian.
According to the municipality, the next part of this project is the production and preparation of the water bus pontoon pier, which is covered by the municipality’s budget in Klaipda’s plains.
Five pontoon piers for passenger embarkation/boarding the water bus will be arranged near the mentioned area, where the passengers will reach the pier or board it. 1 meter long pontoon piers have already been built.
The water bus will be serviced by the company Klaipda Bus Park for the next three years, which won the tender of the public company Klaipda Passenger Transport.
The 12-seat electric bus was created by Klaipda’s electric catamaran production startup Popa LT. Two such catamaran water buses will run on Dans river, the journey from the city center to Tauralaukis will take about 50 minutes.
The full ticket price is EUR 3. Discounts approved by law also apply to seniors, students and other persons, the price for them is up to 1.5 EUR or 0.8 EUR.
It will be possible to pay for a trip by water bus with the e-ticket card of Klaipėda passenger transport and the e.Ticket Klaipeda app on the phone, with an e-student ticket or with a physical Klaipėda card, by adding money to it.
You can buy a ticket for a trip to the city’s health center on the Dans River on a water bus with a contactless payment card.
