Bakanas: Lithuania’s small towns are still dependent on gas

“If we are talking about the prospects of Vilnius, we will be safe from the end of next year or in one and a half or even two years. There will be no more such waves of rising heating prices and we will definitely be able to be calm. But I will remind you that there are smaller cities in Lithuania that currently use gas boilers and are completely dependent on gas. And this is where problems arise,” said G. Bakanas at the GreenTech Vilnius forum dedicated to the green economy, energy and transport, which is being held in Vilnius on Thursday.

The head of VŠT commented that the root of the problem is the inability of these settlements to replace the boilers using their own resources, and the state should take the initiative to solve the problem.

“This is a large part of Lithuania, especially medium-sized and smaller cities simply have nothing to do with it. And there must be some kind of general policy for this,” he asserted.
