Lithuanian triumph at the world robotics championship – young people from Switzerland bring gold to Lithuania

--

During the competition, the teams’ robots performed missions in a special task field 6 meters long and wide. 2.5

in minute-long robot matches, the robots had to collect as many of 240 hollow balls of approximately 10 cm in diameter as quickly as possible. The robot had to bring the collected balls to the team member waiting in the corner of the field, responsible for throwing the balls into the “basket”. At the end of the match, during the last 30 seconds, the robots get an additional task – to pull themselves to the crossbars installed in a special structure.

Some interesting facts about the competition. All teams built robots using the same ones
components. Thus, the possibilities of the teams were compared – everything will be decided by the teams in this competition
creativity and tenacity rather than the availability of construction details.

It is also interesting that not one, but an alliance of four teams became the absolute winners of the competition. Different teams formed robot alliances during the playoffs, and in the finals they already fought as one cohesive unit. This rule encourages teams to compete against each other on the robot task site while maintaining a spirit of cooperation and avoiding hostility. In one stage of the competition, the teams can be rivals, and in the next stage – they can become partners.

Lituanica X was created by a group of students in 2017. Currently, the team consists of students from Vilnius Jesuit High School, Vilnius Lyceum, Vilnius VGTU Engineering Lyceum, Alytus Adolf
Ramanauskas-Vanagas gymnasium and Kaunas KTU gymnasium. The team exists as a community of families, open to all motivated students.

After the Swiss event, Lituanica X will participate in the league of the best European teams. Its center
in Holland, but teams from all over Europe are participating. The events will take place on 11/26/2022 and 01/28/2023. For this competition, you will need to build a robot that will have to put specially designed cones on columns of different heights. In these competitions, there are significantly fewer restrictions on the choice of robot components and the use of object recognition and artificial intelligence programs is still allowed.

The events in Holland will be another test for Lituanica X, which was created by a group of students in 2017. Currently, the team consists of students from Vilnius Jesuit High School, Vilnius Lyceum, Vilnius VGTU Engineering Lyceum, Alytus Adolfas Ramanauskas-Vanagas High School and Kaunas KTU High School.

The students hope that their participation in the world competition will change our country’s attitude towards robotics and gradually it will become as popular as basketball.

The members of the Lithuanian schoolchildren’s robotics team “Lituanica X” are the students of the Vilnius Jesuit high school Rokas Kirdulis, Julius Augustaitis, Dainius Užusenis and Dovydas Šatkauskas, the students of the Vilnius Lyceum – Matas Čiuželis, the Alytus Adolfos Ramanauskas-Vanagos high school – Kristupas Šilalė.
