While the representatives of Kaunas regional municipalities emphasize the problems of attracting qualified, motivated employees and managers, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Agnė Bilotaitė, emphasizes the importance of the transformation of the civil service, according to the Ministry’s (MIA) statement released on Friday.

According to her, the transformation will solve the long-standing problems of attractiveness and competitiveness of the public sector.

During the working visit to Raseiniai, the minister discussed with the mayors of the Kaunas region the priorities of municipal development, strengthening civil safety, and improving the working conditions of firefighters and police forces.

“All the changes implemented by the ministry – in the fields of civil safety and public security, regional development, public administration – are aimed at improving the services people receive, the quality of life and ensuring security,” A. Bilotaitė said in the report.

“Regions require special attention – there are many inequalities between municipalities, often lower employment or more difficult to access public services, so it is necessary to rationally and purposefully implement development projects in order to achieve specific benefits for local residents,” she added.

A. Bilotaitė presented to the representatives of police and firemen of Raseiniai district the concept of strengthening civil safety prepared by the Ministry of Interior, the reorganization of the Police Department and the Fire Protection and Rescue Department.

According to the minister, they will also contribute to safer life in the regions and faster response to incidents.

“The pilot project proved successful and allowed to ensure more efficient management of forces and greater mobility of officers. “The police will continue to follow the path of optimization, as the consolidation of structural units allows us to save funds and direct them to the necessary public security services,” she said.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, A. Bilotaitė marked the gymnasium of President Jonas Žemaitis with the sign of a building suitable for cover in Raseiniai.
