A 16-year-old who carried out a knife attack in Australia was shot dead by police officers

According to police, the boy planned to attack the officers, and they used a Taser on him twice and fatally shot him when he did not obey orders.

“There are indications that he was radicalized online. But at this point I want to reassure the community that he acted alone,” Western Australian Premier Roger Cook said.

Police Commissioner Col Blanch told reporters that late on Saturday, police received a call from a young man warning of his plans to commit violence, but did not provide any details.

Minutes later, police were alerted to a knife-wielding man running around a car park in Perth’s southern suburbs, he added.

According to the police commissioner, the 16-year-old did not obey the police officers’ demands to hand over the knife.

It added that the tool of the crime was a 30cm kitchen knife, which the 16-year-old is believed to have taken from his home.

Mr. Blanch said that the police officers gave him electric shocks several times, but he still did not obey them.

“The guy continued to attack the third officer with the gun, and he fired one shot, fatally wounding the guy,” Blanch said.

According to him, the condition of the injured middle-aged man is serious but stable.
