The missing traveled to the area plagued by cartel violence to surf.

Police removed the bodies without signs of life from the shaft on a cliff on the Pacific coast, AFP news agency reporters saw.

“We are confirming that three individuals have been found dead in Santo Tomas, Baja California,” the FBI office in San Diego, California, said in a statement. It does not identify the dead.

Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson and their American friend Jack Carter disappeared on April 27.

They were vacationing near Ensenada in Baja California in northwest Mexico. However, the brothers’ mother, Debra Robinson, wrote on Facebook that they never arrived at their chosen accommodation.

Santo Tomas is about 45 km southeast of Ensenada.

A dozen rescuers, including federal agents, state troopers, forensics experts and military personnel, were working on the hard-to-reach rock on Friday.

Earlier Friday, members of the Navy and State Attorney’s Office personnel searched that area.

Authorities in Baja California said Thursday that three Mexican nationals are being questioned in connection with the disappearance of three foreign nationals and that the investigation is being coordinated with the FBI and the Australian and US consulates.

Baja California is famous for its great beaches, but it’s also among the most organized crime-ridden states in Mexico.
