Some of the suppliers are in no hurry to conclude long-term, fixed-price contracts with the US Ministry of Defense, which was concerned about replenishing the stockpiles of weapons transferred to Ukraine from reserves. That’s the conclusion of a report released Tuesday by the Congressional Financial Oversight Board (GAO).

“US military structures have concluded or are planning to conclude long-term contracts for the compensation of five types of weapons transferred to Ukraine. DoD and contractor representatives informed GAO that they are experiencing difficulties in this task. Some suppliers do not agree to sign long-term, fixed-price contracts for several years ahead,” the report emphasizes.

According to the information available to its authors, the Pentagon has transferred arms worth billions of dollars to Ukraine. “In 2024 as of March, Congress allocated an additional 25.9 billion US dollars, which the Ministry of Defense can use to restore surrendered weaponry. Institution 70 percent. was committed to absorbing these funds (18 billion) by 2023. December 31 16 billion was allocated to the purchase of armaments and the development of the production base, the remaining amount – to cover the costs of transportation”, – clarified the GAO.

The document indicates that the Pentagon has identified a number of supply chain problems.

“These are long-standing problems that have been exacerbated by factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the increased needs of Ukraine, etc. The long-term supply of parts and raw materials also has an impact on weapons programs,” the authors of the document noted.

According to the Pentagon, during the presidency of Joe Biden, the United States allocated 44.9 billion dollars to Ukraine for strengthening the security sector. US dollars, including 44.2 billion transferred after the Russian invasion.
