The Lithuanian men’s 3×3 basketball team started the Olympic selection with a win and a loss

In the first match, Dainius Novick’s students defeated Brazil 21:14. In this match, Evaldas Džiaugys scored 8 points, Aurelijus Pukelis 7, Šarūnas Vingelis and Darius Tarvydas 3 each.

A little later, our team lost to the Netherlands 18:21. In this battle, A. Pukelis scored 7, E. Džiaugys and Š. Vingelis 4 points each, D. Tarvydas 3 points.
On Saturday, the Lithuanians will finish the group competition at 10:15 a.m. starting match against Puerto Rico. The first and second place teams from the group will go further. The semifinals and finals of the Olympic selection will take place on Sunday from 12:20 to 14:10. The ticket to the Paris Olympics will go only to the winners of the tournament.

The Lithuanian national team is represented in the tournament by Aurelijus Pukelis, Darius Tarvydas, Šarūnas Vingelis and Evaldas Džiaugys. Gintautas Matulis and Marijus Užupis will miss the tournament due to injuries.

The Lithuanian national team is ranked as the strongest team before the tournament, the Dutch are second. France, Japan, Mongolia and Egypt compete in the other group.

If the Lithuanians failed to secure a place in the Olympic Games already in this tournament, there would be a second chance for that.
