Russian news agencies, citing a list of wanted persons from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow, reported on Saturday that Moscow had issued a manhunt for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Judging from the list of wanted persons, a criminal case has been opened against V. Zelenskiy. However, the ministry did not elaborate on the alleged allegations.

Russia has already added other high-ranking politicians to its wanted list, including Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.

This decision does not have a direct impact on V. Zelensky, because the Ukrainian president is not on the territory of Russia. It is seen more as a symbolic act.

Russia justifies its invasion of Ukraine by allegedly oppressing the Russian-speaking population of the neighboring country.

In March 2023, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The ICC accuses V. Putin of being responsible for the abduction and deportation of children and minors from the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine to Russia. Moscow calls these incidents evacuation.

At the end of last year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia announced the search for Lieutenant General Kyryl Budanov, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
