From now on, not only mother and son are at home, but also colleagues working in different departments of the Kaunas District Chief Police Commissariat (Kaunas District VPK). Although the work challenges are different, they are united by the same mission – to protect, protect, help.

Kaunas district, who has been working in the Criminal Police for more than 20 years. Audronė Gecevičienė, head of the 3rd department of the VPK’s Serious Crimes Investigation Board, who leads the officers who investigate particularly serious crimes, revealed that in the past, when her son was still small, she sometimes received questions from those around her about how she manages to distance herself from difficult work or whether it can be combined with as a mother. The official said that she was always guided by one important rule – what remains outside the office door cannot be “taken home”.

However, when the officer’s youngest son grew up, it became more and more difficult to break away from work at home, because son Ned became very actively interested in police work. “At first, many people thought that I encouraged my son to choose the profession of an officer, but this is not true. On the contrary, I used to ask him if he really couldn’t imagine himself in another professional field. It didn’t matter to me whether my son would follow in my footsteps, the most important thing is that he be happy”, said A. Gecevičienė about her son’s choice of profession.

A. Gecevičienė, who together with her colleagues explained more than one significant resonant event, has also been teaching at Mykolas Romeris University for ten years, where she shares her knowledge and experience with students, and a few years ago, her son was already listening to her mother on the students’ bench. “I had to argue, he provided a lot of theoretical insights, and I supplemented from the practical side,” my mother recalled. Ned never doubted his desire to become a police officer and pursued it purposefully – he completed law and pre-trial process studies at the university and the introductory training of the Lithuanian Police School.

A few days ago, on May 2, on his birthday, N. Gecevičius joined the Kaunas district. VPK Response Boards. The first day of work was already memorable for the officer – he had to go to many calls, and in one of them – to look for the parents of a lost little girl. When the officer was asked what his first impressions were, he said that there was some excitement at the beginning of the day, although it seemed that you were already ready, knew and trained for everything. “Emotions at work resembled a roller coaster – in one event the situation is very serious, in the other a little calmer.” You never stay in one emotion, you have to forget the past event very quickly and focus on the event you have arrived at that time,” said the officer responding to events, who has no doubts that when he and his mother become colleagues, the common topics for conversation will increase.
