In the distant 1931 the competition that started in 2011, which at the same time marked the official beginning of motor sports in Lithuania, has become one of the most prestigious competitions in the country during its history. This is a unique race in which the most diverse cars are driven by both amateurs and professionals competing in various corners of Lithuania.
The thirty-third Rally “Around Lithuania” will start in 2024. on August 2. Initially, the athletes will gather at the rally headquarters from early Friday morning, which is located in the beautiful VDU Botanic Garden. All administrative matters will be taken care of and the equipment of the racers will be checked.
After the formalities have been settled, the competition will start in a solemn ceremony near Kaunas St. Archangel Michael’s Church, better known as Kaunas Cathedral. It is here that the three-day speed trip will begin, where participants will test their skills in thirty-two speed sections.
The matches will take place in great representative locations such as autodromes, ring tracks, the best kart tracks in Lithuania and city centers. This is a unique opportunity to test yourself at the best kart tracks and circuit tracks in Lithuania, which are usually expensive or there is no way to get there. The route also includes 15 cities, including Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Rokiškis, Anykščiai or Trakai.
The uniqueness of this competition also lies in the fact that any car can participate here – from a historic car to a brand new one that has just left the showroom. This means that not only sports cars are suitable for participation, but also everyday cars, which will easily find a place in one of the 12 classes of the rally. Specially selected speed sections will take place only on asphalt, equalizing opportunities and protecting the equipment of the participants. It’s the same with drivers – both amateurs and professionals can compete, and there are separate entries for female crews, people with disabilities and young people, so everyone who wants to experience this unique adventure by car can participate.
After three days of adventures and challenges, the rally will finish at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius, where the fastest crew of the “Around Lithuania” rally will be awarded the President’s Cup of the Republic of Lithuania from the hands of the President himself.
The program of the “Around Lithuania” rally consists of three days. As already mentioned, the competition will start in Kaunas from early Friday morning. From the temporary capital, the participants will move to the first speed sections and end the day in Zarasai district.
The second day of the rally will start in Rokišky and end in Smalininkai by visiting Kupiški, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Kelma and Tauragė.
The third, last and shortest day will start in the legendary Nemunas Ring and the sports channel will reach the capital and the Lithuanian Presidency located in S. Daukanta Square, where the awards of this rally will take place.
