Devils also work on May 1st. 2024-05-01 Vilnius is again abundantly sprayed with “condensate”.

A lie. The chemtrail conspiracy theory, which claims that governments or other authorities run a secret program to release toxic chemicals into the atmosphere from aircraft, has yet to be proven to exist. This conspiracy theory has been refuted many times, so Vilnius residents were not really sprayed with “chemtrails”.

According to the data of May 1st, 64 planes were supposed to depart for Vilnius airport. This is almost the same number of flights as there are almost daily (here).

Since the weather was clear, people who believe in the “chemtrail” conspiracy theory immediately rushed to record how Vilnius is being polluted from the sky.

“Chemtrails” are what supporters of this conspiracy theory call the flight path left behind by airplanes in the air, and they also explain that it does not dissipate for a very long time and is enriched with various chemicals.

The BBC points out that the idea that governments or shadowy forces regularly spray the planet with chemicals from regular passenger flights took hold in the 1990s. At first, believers said that sprays containing the toxic metal barium were used to reduce the population. In recent years, followers have expanded their accusations to claim that “chemtrails” are being used to spread Covid-19, distribute vaccines, initiate “mind control”, depopulate, or vaguely promote a “new world order” (here).

The word “chemtrail” is derived from the words chemistry and “contrail”, the latter from condensation and trail. But really what people call “chemtrails” is just condensed moisture in the air. Almost every jet engine emits hot gases that contain water, which is what causes contrails to form in the sky (here).

“The contrails are formed when water vapor and fine soot particles from burning jet fuel freeze into ice crystals. At low humidity, the crystals simply disperse. With higher humidity, they persist and form visible vapor trails over large areas of the sky. These differences in humidity explain why some aircraft produce vapor trails while others do not. The high humidity means the vapor trails may not dissipate for long and become thin layers of cirrus clouds, Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern ( here ) told the BBC.

Although there are not many scientific studies that prove that “chemtrails” do not exist, expert works that refute this conspiracy theory can be found.

One of the most famous of them is a publication that appeared in the scientific journal “Environmental Research Letters” specifically to determine the nature of “chemtrails”. The paper concludes that scientists have failed to find evidence of large-scale chemical spraying operations from airplanes, and classical laws of physics explain the trails left by airplanes (here).

The authors of the paper confirmed that people are seeing more condensation trails in the sky simply because of the recent increase in passenger planes. And the fact that these traces remain undispersed longer can be explained by the fact that due to the changing climate, the conditions in the upper layers of the atmosphere have changed, so water vapor droplets remain in their state longer.

Proponents of the chemtrail conspiracy became even more active as scientists began to develop solar geoengineering, a new field of research into how to cool the planet in the face of climate change. Spraying sulfur particles into the atmosphere could help reflect sunlight and cool the planet, researchers say, although the technology remains controversial and untested as scientists worry about potential unintended consequences. Also, no academic or scientific group is doing significant geoengineering research in the field, so far research is only happening in labs ( here ).
