“Yevgenij Kissin is the most recognized pianist in the world” – wrote The Economist. The depth and poetry of the pianist’s interpretations, his perfect virtuosity earned him the recognition that only the most talented artists of the era receive. Kissin’s recitals are highly anticipated events on the world’s most important stages, where he has performed both solo and with the most famous orchestras and conductors: Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, James Levine, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Seiji Ozawa and others.

53-year-old Kissin, born into a Jewish family in Moscow, started playing the piano by ear and improvising at the age of just two. At the age of ten, he already performed in the big halls of the city, and as a teenager he organized tours in Europe and Japan. Seventeen-year-old Kissin gained worldwide fame with a New Year’s concert and broadcast, in which he appeared with the legendary trampoline master Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

The pianist, who has Israeli and British citizenships, left Russia in 1991 and still lives in Prague with his family. For more than a decade, he has been perhaps the fiercest critic of Russian political power, repression and military aggression. After the start of large-scale military actions against Ukraine, the performer actively supports the country’s society by holding charity concerts, constantly making public appearances and gathering like-minded people.

Jevgenijs Kissin returns to Lithuania for his only concert after a 14-year hiatus with an exceptional program that reveals his musicality in all its colors. When playing, Kissin creates an almost mystical atmosphere. As the Los Angeles Times wrote, in concerts “he completely immerses himself in his world – like a jazz musician, dissolving in music and his stormy feelings. Kissin is going through a special moment in his career, trying new things and letting his soul fly. It’s extremely intriguing.”

August 20 He will perform the famous opuses of Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms and Prokofiev for the Lithuanian audience.
