The impressive flight of a glowing object in the sky above the Green Lakes was filmed – seeing it gave me strange feelings

“Photography is a big hobby of mine, especially nature photography. After the good Northern Lights forecast appeared yesterday, I didn’t hesitate to go to the Green Lakes. When we got to the place, we had to be a little disappointed at first, the sky over the lake was still quite bright, and the chance of seeing the aurora borealis started to decrease due to the weakening storm.

I set up the camera, let it go time lapse with little hope, and suddenly a strange light formation appeared in the sky. The light was like a vortex, moving across the sky without any sound, it looked like it was in a light mist, even though the sky looked completely clear. The sight was very unusual, at that time I had strange feelings, after the light disappeared beyond the horizon, only guesses remained in my mind as to what it could have been”, photographer Irmantas Arnauskas shared his impressions with the Delfi portal.

We assume that the second stage of the Space X rocket Falcon 9 was observed flying in the atmosphere, spinning and releasing fuel residues.

As reported by Space X, on May 2 from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA, at 18:36 GMT (21:36 Lithuanian time), the Falcon 9 rocket launched two Earth observation satellites of the company “Maxar”.

The first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket is reusable and has successfully landed at Vandenberg Air Force Base after liftoff.

But the upper stage of the Falcon 9 rocket is no longer reusable – after launching satellites or other payloads, it falls back to Earth and burns up in the atmosphere, creating a spectacular skylight effect.
