My farm – What used combine harvesters are offered in Lithuania

Kaunas. A grain harvester is an expensive investment, so many farmers choose used grain harvesters. How much do used grain harvesters cost in our country, what is their supply? Portal manūkis.lt looked around Lithuanian internet classifieds pages.

In each ad portal, you can find several hundred advertisements of combine harvesters of different manufacturers for sale, although sometimes this category includes not only combine harvesters, but also their spare parts. Some of the ads are repeated on different web pages.

Grain threshers from several decades old, such as 1986, to last year’s production are offered. Maximum supply 2011-2018 production of grain harvesters.

If old models Fortschritt, Volvo, Don, Niva combine harvesters are sold for several thousand (prices start at around 2 thousand euros), that’s for similar old Claas, John Deere ten thousand and more euros are already being requested. Usually, the prices of combines manufactured before 2010 range from several tens to 100 thousand. euros, since 2011 well over 100 thousand euros.

For a ten-year-old combine, depending on the manufacturer, working hours, technical condition, you may have to pay from about 130 thousand. up to 300 thousand euros. The prices of harvesters that are about five years old are around 300-400 thousand. euros, depending on the manufacturer, performance and equipment.

A significant number of combine harvesters are sold by Lithuanian companies – both representatives of western combine manufacturers, and representatives of used machinery from abroad that bring used equipment to Lithuania and sell it a little cheaper than the manufacturers. By the way, in the basket of used combine harvesters of manufacturers’ representatives, you can find not only the equipment they represent.

Ads by private sellers, not companies, make up a fairly small portion. They sell combine harvesters at a relatively lower price than companies that likely invest in the maintenance and preparation of the machine, provide warranties and service.

The most popular and most expensive models

The largest supply, perhaps, and demand, are various models Claas grain harvesters. Offered from Claas Dominator, depending on the technical condition, costing from approximately 12 to 34 thousand. Eur, up to different performance Lexion and Toucan. by the way Claas Lexion – the supply is the largest.

Depending on the year of manufacture, performance, working hours (they are not indicated in all ads), equipment and level of modernity, combine harvesters of this model cost from about 39 thousand. euros (e.g. 1997 production Claas Lexion 460, brought from Denmark) up to 495 thousand. euros (production in 2021 Claas Lexion 8900TT Cemos Auto) without VAT. Including VAT, the final price is even higher.

In second place in terms of supply – John Deere combine harvesters, not far behind them and New Holland machines.

For example, for 2004 production John Deere 9640 WTS asking for EUR 36,500, 2002 John Deere 9880 STS – from 46 thousand EUR, 2017 John Deere S680i – 210 thousand euros. By the way, the supply of machines of the latter model is the largest, their average price is about 130 thousand. euros.

The most expensive grain threshing machine – 2022. production John Deere X9 1100 4×4, for which 710 thousand is requested. EUR without VAT. After calculating VAT, the amount reaches 859,100 euros.

And this is for 2023. production sold ex-demonstration New Holland CX.8.90 asking 249,000 euros (including VAT – 301,290 euros). The lowest amount (12,600 EUR) for 1999 production New Holland TX 68, which is sold at auction. The company is asking much more for the same model of combine harvester – 33 thousand. euros.

Other choices

The supply of other well-known Western used combine harvesters is relatively small – only a few units can be found in their ads. For example, only a few between 2011 and 2022 are currently offered. production Case IH harvesters. The minimum requested is 100 thousand. EUR amount for Case IH 9120 (produced in 2011, working 2,752 hours), the largest – 268 thousand. EUR without VAT for Case IH 8240 (2016 production, 1,532 hours). Although in 2022 production Case IHAF 6150 can also be purchased for 230 thousand. EUR without VAT.

A few are also for sale Laverda combine harvesters manufactured from 1990 to 2013. Their price ranges from 15 to 96 thousand. euros. For 1970. Massey Ferguson 3,500 EUR is requested, while the price of newer ones, e.g. 2017, is 135,000 EUR. EUR without VAT.

Few ads for sale Fendt, Deutz-Fahr or Sampo combine harvesters. Little is offered and Rostselmash harvesting machines, for which the asking price ranges from 24 to 170 thousand EUR without VAT. The most expensive is the former demo 2021. production RostselmashSo 770 model with 339 hours.

According to the Register of Tractors, Self-Propelled and Agricultural Machinery and Trailers, there are significantly more used combine harvesters registered each year than new ones.

For example, in 2023 Lithuanian farmers registered a total of 534 grain harvesters, of which 179 were new, and 355 were used, a significant number of which were registered in Lithuania for the first time. Hence, our farmers prefer combine harvesters brought from abroad. Registration leaders – used Claas combine harvesters, following them New Holland, Massey Ferguson and John Deere.
